Countries of Origin:  Somalia, Ethiopia,
 
Perfumery note:  Base
 
Color:  Pale yellow to orange 
 
Aroma:  Warm, spicy, balsamic, rich, resinous
 
Point of interest:  Was used by the Egyptians in the mummification process.  Myrrh was one of the gifts given to Jesus by the Wisemen.  Oldest aromatic known.  Egyptian women used this in facial care. (Battaglia) 
 
Properties:  Contact an aromatherapist.
 
Energetics:  Chakras-Crown, root.  TCM-warming and drying.  Associated with the Earth element. (Mojay)
Blends well with:  other resins, and gums such as frankincense, benzoin and galbanum.  Clove, lavender, and patchouli are other oils it blends well with. 
 
Modes of application:  Bath (diluted), Topical-compress, massage, salve, inhalation, diffuser.
 
Safety information:  Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing.  According to Tisserand & Young, may be fetotoxic due to the Beta-elemene and furanodiene.  Contraindications: All routes-pregnancy and lactation.
