Color: Pale yellow, yello to greenish.
Aroma: Fresh, light, sweet, lemony, like the squeezed peel.
Point of interest: The Egyptians used lemon as an antidote for bad meat of fish poisoning. (Sellar). Was a treatment for scurvy.
Properties: Contact an aromatherapist.
Energetics: Chakras-Solar plexus. TCM-cooling and drying. Strengthens and calms the Shen. (Holmes) Lemon oil tonifies the Wood Element. (Battaglia)
Blends well with: Florals-Chamomile, Lavender, Neroli, Rose, Ylang Ylang. Resins of Benzoin, Frankincense. Woods of Juniper, Sandalwood. Others-Cardamom, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Ginger.
Mode of application: Bath, topical, salve, inhalation, diffusion.
Safety information: Non-toxic, non-irritant. Sensitization can occur in some individuals. DO NOT USE ON SKIN BEFORE SUN EXPOSURE. Expressed Lemon oil is phototoxic. Sensitizing if oxidized. Keep in the fridge. Max dermal use is 2.0% (Tisserand & Young).
